Steve and Vickie live in Tellico Plains, Tennessee. Steve is a math, physics, and ACT prep teacher at Tellico Plains High School. Vickie is a pharmacy tech at Little Drugs in the nearby town of Sweetwater. She is a certified Pharmacy Tech Compounding Specialist.
They moved back to Tellico Plains (the town where Steve grew up) in early 1999 in order to be available for Steve's mom, Dorothy (who has one other son, Alan, who lives in Denver, Colorado). Dorothy died in May, 2008. They built an addition to Dorothy's house a few years ago in order to have a place to live. (Vickie's parents both passed away in 1997. Her dad died two weeks after her mom had passed away. Steve's dad died in 1984.)
Tellico Plains is a beautiful little town in the southeastern corner of Tennessee. It sits on the border of the Cherokee National Forest in the peaceful Southern Appalachian Mountains. Here's is what you see as you drive into the town:
Steve and Vickie have seven boys. (Yes, seven!) No girls (unless you count Andromeda!). When Steve and Vickie married, Vickie had four sons (Jeremy, Joshua, Jacob, and Jared) and Steve had three (David, Timothy, and Daniel). Our youngest son, Jared, was three-years-old at the time.
In June, 2010 Jared was honorably discharged from active duty in the United States Marines. He served as an MP from 2005-2010. He served two deployments to Iraq. He and his wife Crystal are the parents of our 9th and 10th grandchildren, Charity and Troy. Charity was born June 26, 2009. Troy (our youngest grandchild as of January 2012!) was born May 26, 2011. Our second youngest son, Jacob, lives not far from us in Madisonville, TN. Jacob and Lacey have our eighth grandchild, Kinzer (born 2/12/08). Our oldest son, David, lives with his wife, Melissa, and our sixth grandchild (Noah--born Thanksgiving Day, 2006) in Corona, California. Our other four sons live in Texas. Joshua and his wife Kim and their two children, Colton (our second grandchild, born 4/17/2002) and Sarah (our fifth grandchild, born 5/28/2005), live in Garland. Jeremy and his two children Kaylee (our first grandchild, born 1/18/2002) and Austin (our fourth grandchild, born 2/28/2005) also live in Garland. Our son Daniel also lives in Garland. Timothy and our seventh grandchild, Avery (born Christmas Eve, 2007), also live in the Dallas area.

Steve graduated from Tellico Plains High School in 1964, from the University of Tennessee in 1967 (physics major), and from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1973. From 1973 to 1975 he completed most of the requirements (except for the dissertation) for a doctorate in Education Administration at the University of Tennessee. Before 1999, he had taught high school math and physics for eight years in Tennessee and in Texas. From 1999 to the present, he has taught math at Tellico Plains High School. He also served about 14 years in the Christian ministry (seven years as senior pastor), serving churches in Tennessee, Florida, and Texas. During their last few years in Texas, Steve served as the business administrator for Vickie's midwifery practice (Abounding Joy Birth Services).
Vickie graduated from South Garland High School in Garland, Texas in 1974. In addition to giving birth to four fine boys (the last two at home, with a midwife), she is a graduate of the North Texas School of Midwifery and is a retired Certified Professional Midwife. She helped moms deliver several hundred babies from 1985 until 1999. Most of those were home births. Some were born in birth centers in the Dallas and North Texas area. She has also worked as a medical assistant for several doctors and dentists in the Dallas area. Since 2002 Vickie has worked as a compounding pharmacy technician at Little Drugs in Sweetwater, TN.
Steve and Vickie are members of Sevier Heights Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee, where they are honored to sing in the awesome SHBC choir, serve as altar counselors and as care group leaders. They also lead a weekly Bible study small group in their home in Tellico Plains. Steve also serves as assistant teacher in our Adult 5B Bible Fellowship class.
You will not have to look far at these web pages to realize that the most important thing in Steve and Vickie's lives is their relationship to Jesus Christ. If you do not yet know Him in a personal way, we urge you to read our page on Becoming a Christian, and invite Him into your life. If you are a Christian, but are not as close to Him as you once were, you may find some help in these pages that will encourage you to make some decisions that may bring some joy back into your life.
